Marianella, began renting the Mama Simona building 1 1/2 years ago for a 10 year period. It was in poor condition at that time. She has made many improvements since then. This includes new beds and mattresses. Many of the bathrooms have new tile on the floors and walls, including my room #3. She is continuing to upgrade the facility and has tiles to install in more of the bathrooms. I talked with her mother-in-law, who was visiting from Lima, at breakfast my first morning there. I mentioned that there were no hangers on the walls of my room. She said to tell Marianella. I did and, that day while I was out, she had a wood 4 dowel hanger unit put on the wall next to my bed. I decided to drop my reservation in Urubamba and stay an additional 2 days at Mama Simona. Someone had reserved room 3 for one of those nights. I was moved to the multiple bunkbed room on the first floor. I think it was #7. I noticed that the paint was peeling in the shower entry. I mentioned it to Marianella, as well to a leak in the bathroom sink drain. When I returned in the afternoon, the peeling paint had been scraped and Marianella told me that she was not going to be renting the room again until both problems were fixed. She said that possibly a steam extractor could be put in the shower. This shows that if you have a concern, tell her and it will be quickly addressed if possible. The breakfasts were very good. The rooms have no heat but, when I said that I had folded over the heavy bed cover my first night there for more warmth, I was given a second one for my bed. Mama Simona is located on a side street about a 10 minute walk from the main square. It is very quiet there. There are many restaurants in the main square area from which to choose. There are 2 computers on the ground floor for guest use at no charge. Marianella is very committed to the success of Mama Simona. She speaks excellent English.

Mama Simona was definitely worth the money! The room was spotless and cozy, with plenty of space for our things. Plus, the location was fantastic, just a short walk from the main plaza. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, even going the extra mile to arrange a taxi and call a doctor when my friend fell ill. We felt well taken care of during our stay.
The breakfast options could be improved.

As women traveling alone, we felt completely at ease at Mama Simona. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, making us feel comfortable and safe. The quiet street and peaceful atmosphere were perfect for relaxation. The hostel catered more towards couples and solo travelers in their 30s and 40s, creating a calm and pleasant environment. The clean rooms, free lockers, and good wifi in the common area were all great amenities. The mini shop had everything we needed, and the free coco tea was a nice touch. The kitchen area was well-equipped for cooking our own meals. the hostel provided a nice place to unwind after a busy day exploring the city.
Felt right at home here, with the staff always available to help.

Very friendly staff, excellent value for money. Nice beds. Free PC and wi-fi.
No in-room heating, but we knew it already when we booked. For a small additional fee, you can get electric heating in your room. In general however this hostel is highly raccomended.

staff were very helpful.
Had booked double room but when I arrived was told that it was not available & had to stay in a dorm room with bunk bed/no towels/no toiletries/no TV & very cold. when I went to pay well they wanted to charge me for a double room with towels/TV & toiletries. when I asked they gave me a very small discount & didn't charge for the heater. The room had no window no picture on the wall - just 4 white washed walls & when you had a shower the bathroom stank of mold! I checked out Eco backpackers & I should have stayed there!

We absolutely loved our stay at this hostel! The private bedroom with twin beds and private bathroom was perfect for us. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and we appreciated that there were lockers available to store our luggage after check-out. The front desk staff, especially the girl, were so helpful and kind. They even helped us negotiate the price of our taxi rides. We also enjoyed the community feel and ambiance of the hostel. It was a great value and provided a more local experience.
We felt safe and had no complaints during our stay.

I stayed at Mama Simona for a week while exploring the beautiful city of Cusco. The staff were incredibly helpful, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort and safety. They arranged taxis for us at any time, even calling a mobile doctor to assist when my friend fell ill. The location was great, just a short walk from the center, and the free lockers were a bonus. The hot coca tea in the lobby was a comforting touch, and the beds were super comfy. a lovely experience! 100% recommend this hotel.
